Morrison Designed National 18 Overwhelmingly Approved by the Class

At the National 18 ft Class Association AGM in Abersoch in July the class voted overwhelmingly to accept the 2013 Morrison design as the new National 18. Since that time much has happened. The class is delighted to announce the selection of White Formula, Brightlingsea, UK as our exclusive build partner with contracts recently signed and twelve boats on order for the 2015 season. Progress with the new hull The National 18 Class Association has now appointed White Formula (WF) as the sole builder for the new Morrison designed National 18 hull. Largely thanks to the Royal Cork Yacht Club, the Class Association, and White Formula, the Funds have been raised to build the moulds for the new hull. Rather than use the prototype, Odyssey, as the plug, new plugs for the moulds are being built [see photos below of the hull plug]. Abersoch July 2014

During the week commencing the 27th July, the National Eighteen Class British and Irish Championships were held at Abersoch in north Wales for the first time. The host club, South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club provided everything that was required to run the championships. The Class was made very welcome and the facilities were first class. The sailing programme was a Practice race on Sunday with 2 races each day from Monday to Friday.
