2017 National 18 Class Championships

Hayling Island   23-28 July 2017

Nearly 80 years young and still going strong……the 18s will once again be racing in Hayling Bay!

We invite all generations of 18s to come and enjoy a week of racing and recreation at this splendid venue- almost in sight of Cowes where Uffa Fox drew the lines of the first hull in 1938.

Located on a sandy peninsular in the South East corner of Hayling Island, and surrounded by water and golden beaches, this friendly sailing club has an enviable position, and excellent facilities, including multiple slips(some with recovery windlasses), a chandlery offering hull and rig repair, and ample space for boats cars and trailers.

The large modern clubhouse has all facilities including an all-day cafeteria, wet and dry bars ,a large formal dining room and extensive terraces with stunning views .The drink prices are very reasonable, and the bar remains open till 1am with an extension to 2am on the Friday night.

Alongside the clubhouse there are two purpose built blocks providing a range of accommodation for up to 100 people, suitable to all needs and at sensible prices. With onsite parking for camper vans, and other private rented accommodation close nearby, whether with or without the family, there is something to suit everyone.

The HISC accommodation is kindly being held available for the N18 championship competitors and families, until March, so all competitors are urged to refer to the HISC website for details and how to book, and make their bookings without undue delay.

The club has access at all states of tide to Hayling Bay and Chichester Harbour. The bay is relatively tide free and sheltered, and a well-known venue for international events, but if the weather dictates, racing can take place within the harbour where an Olympic course can be set at all states of the tide.

With an experienced HISC race team in charge of arrangements on the water, competitors can expect great racing by day, and with the excellent facilities of the club, and a full social programme of events planned, truly unforgettable evenings in the finest traditions of the Class.

The organizers urge you – for everyone’s peace of mind – to enter your boat and book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment –

Entry details incl NOR etc can be found on the HISC site here
