Welcome to the National 18 Class

The Class has evolved a deep history, from the original clinker wooden Uffa Fox ‘Ace’ adopted in 1938, through to our latest iteration, the thoroughly exciting & modern Phil Morrison designed, two or three person, trapeze, dinghy being built by White Formula and formally launched at the 2015 Dinghy Show.

The Class supports a thriving fleet, from the 75+ year old classic woodies through to our latest Morrison design, with an unrivalled history of keen competition and a lively bonhomie amongst the multi generational fleets in clubs around England, Ireland, the Isle of man, Scotland & Wales.

The Blackwater Sailing Club is holding a National 18 Open Meeting on Saturday and Sunday 8/9th July. The English Championship will also be run during this event. The Club has easy access from the A12 and has plenty of space and facilities to host a fleet of National 18s of all categories and will welcome as many boats as possible. The event will be run jointly with a Snipe Open (separate courses). There will be a Committee Boat start with three races each day. We will hold a barbecue with the Snipe sailors on Saturday evening and arrange something at our home for National 18 sailors who arrive on Friday evening.

The NOR is being prepared and will be posted shortly. We very much look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful club and its facilities. For any further information, please contact Julian Berney on either 07785 503179 or julianberney@consultingsoutheast.com”

Magic weekend in Howth Yacht Club for inaugural N18 IRL easterns, held in partnership with the RS 200/400/Feva and SB 20's. It was great to visit Howth YC again and socialise with a super bunch of people from other classes. RS Sailing SB20 Ireland

On the water we got 6 relatively light wind races completed. Charles Dwyer and his crew NIN and Richie took the overall event in Charles new boat. A tie break behind them saw Tommy Dwyer, Peter O'Donovan and Charlie Moloney take 2nd with Colin Chapman, Morgan O'Sullivan and Ronan Walsh taking 3rd.

Back to Cork now for the IRL fleet with Wed leagues continuing and Sat racing beginning start of May. The 2017 season is well and truly up and running..!
