Weir Wolf was built in 1950 by Kimber of High Bridge for the Porlock Weir Sailing Club fleet.
Clinker construction, mahogany planking on oak frames. Present owner since 1969.
Sailed from the Hill Head Sailing Club until lay up at the end of the 1980’s. Refurbished in 2016 to fitness standard to sail. Deck paint in good order – otherwise mahogany hull now needs attention, a scrape and varnish and repaint inside. Also time to absorb moisture and seal the planking and heavy centre board case/keel structure. Some beefing up of this structure by a previous owner is also apparent. She is to Ace design and within the N18 rules, but sturdier as a Bristol Channel variant.
Her rig is original with wooden mast and boom, rudder, tiller, except a new wooden centre board, which is easily handleable. (Original heavy cast steel 220lb centre plate and rusty winch are available, if wanted!). One mainsail is usable.
Equipment. Ply floor panels, CQR anchor and line. Some polystyrene blocks for buoyancy and pair of sweeps. Boat cover and large cover for season’s layup. Outboard bracket.
She is viewable in Haslemere complete with Road Trailer.
