The Cork Harbour National 18 Class are running an out of season “Gathering”. “The Gathering ” is on Saturday 21st Feb in Irish Distillers at 6.30pm. (Book in advance to get on the bus leaving Douglas and Patricks Quay and back again for €5) Tickets are €50 and it represents great value: A distillery tour, a cocktail reception, a 3 course meal and the legendary National 18 socialising awaits. The theme for the evening is to celebrate the past and look forward to the future… a future that is very exciting with the arrival of the new hulls this spring/summer.

Odyssey, 40knot gusts, and a Bloody Mary
On Saturday 10th January, the Phil Morrison designed National 18 Prototype ‘Odyssey’ took part in the 42nd Bloody Mary at Queen Mary Reservoir. The gales of the night before saw no real sign of abating with wind speed on the raised reservoir blowing constantly above 20 knots and frequently gusting over 40 knots. Usually the hunting ground of International 14’s and Foiling Moths, the Bloody Mary saw neither of these as out of 235 entrants only 69 completed the course. Progress with National 18 Number 401 The sail numbers for new Morrison designed National 18 are beginning to be allocated. Odyssey, the prototype is number 400. The first new boat completed by White Formula will be number 401. The intention is to include the sail number in the Hull Identification Number for each new boat. The moulds for the hull and inner deck are completed; the ring deck will be completed shortly. The building of 401 is going very well; even the builders are excited about her looks and progress! At this moment WF are a little ahead of schedule
